Dr. Aruna Rao is a board certified Neurologist with additional board certifications in Headache and Sleep medicine. Dr. Rao completed her Neurology residency at Johns Hopkins school of medicine followed by a fellowship in Sleep medicine. She sees patients at the Cerebro spinal fluid disorders center and Sleep disorders center. She specializes in inpatient management of patients requiring monitoring of intracerebral pressures or cerebrospinal fluid drainage. In the Sleep disorders center she sees patients with Sleep apnea, Insomnia, Hypersomnolence disorders and movement disorders associated with sleep like Restless leg syndrome.
Before her time here at Hopkins Dr. Rao completed residency training in Adult Psychiatry at Mount Sinai medical center in New York followed by fellowship training in Child and Adolescent psychiatry at Harvard medical school. Her previous faculty appointment was at at Harvard medical school where she co directed the inpatient child psychiatry unit at Cambridge Health alliance.
Research interests: Cerebrospinal fluid disorders, sleep disorders, the effect of sleep disordered breathing on cerebrospinal fluid dynamics.
