David F. Bauer, MD, MPH is Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine / Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed internship and residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham under Dr. Jerry Oakes, followed by fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at University of Washington / Seattle Children’s Hospital under Dr. Richard Ellenbogen. As a former Assistant Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, he was director of pediatric neurosurgery. While at Dartmouth, he completed a Masters in Public Health at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in 2019. After transitioning to Houston, he is currently the co-director of craniofacial surgery at Texas Children’s Hospital with a second focused practice in the treatment of complex pediatric Chiari, pediatric spine trauma, pediatric spinal cord tumors, and complex pediatric spine deformity. He is chair of the national guidelines committee for the Pediatric Section of the AANS/CNS, and he serves on the CNS Guidelines committee and the AANS/CNS Joint Guidelines Review Committee. He has helped with the production and review of guidelines in multiple organizations including PALSI, AES, AAP, AAN, CNS, and AANS. He is an active member of the AAP, ASPN, ACS, CNS, and AANS.
