Dr. Edward Ahn completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University and received his medical degree with honors from the New York University School of Medicine. He then completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr. Ahn then completed a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery as the Shillito Staff Associate at the Childrens Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. From 2007 to 2018, he served on the faculty in the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital as an Assistant Professor with promotion to Associate Professor.
In 2018, Dr. Ahn became a Professor of Neurosurgery and Pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. His clinical focus is the surgical treatment of craniosynostosis, spinal dysraphism, and Chiari malformation. He performs prenatal surgery for repair of spina bifida. He serves on the Executive Committee of the AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Neurosurgery: Pediatrics and Child’s Nervous System. Since 2022, Dr. Ahn has served on the faculty of the Pan-African Academy of Christian Surgeons Neurosurgery Residency Program with regular visits to Tenwek Hospital in Kenya.
