Brain Motion and CSF Flow in Subjects with CMI

Dr. John Oshinski examines the relationship between cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow, brain motion, and Chiari malformation. Using advanced MRI techniques, the Dr. Oshinski explains how CSF velocity and flow are measured and presents research showing that Chiari patients have reduced CSF flow and increased brain motion. Following posterior fossa decompression surgery, CSF flow increases and brain motion decreases, approaching normal levels. Oshinski concludes by exploring how these changes may relate to symptoms, brain clearance through the glymphatic system, and future approaches to understanding and treating Chiari malformation.
