MyChiari App: Symptoms Tracking Tool that Accounts for Environmental Factors

MyChiari is an iOS research app being developed at Northeastern University to study Chiari malformation. The project aims to investigate whether environmental factors—particularly changes in atmospheric pressure and elevation—are associated with symptom flares. The app combines sensor data with brief symptom check-ins while emphasizing low participant burden, anonymity, and privacy.

Ultimately, the researchers hope MyChiari will provide stronger real-world evidence about the relationship between environmental changes and Chiari symptoms and generate insights that may improve understanding and management of the condition.
