Dr. Clair Francomano

Dr. Clair Francomano

Dr. Clair A. Francomano, an internist and medical geneticist. She is internationally recognized for her work in the hereditary disorders of connective tissue. Dr. Francomano is Professor of Medical and
Molecular Genetics at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated Magna cum Laude from Yale College and completed her medical education at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She trained in internal medicine and medical genetics at Johns Hopkins and went on to join the full-time faculty at Hopkins, where she worked for 11 years. She then joined the National Institutes of Health as an intramural scientist, working as Chief of the Medical Genetics Branch and Clinical Director for the National Human Genome Research Institute, and then as Chief of the Human Genetics and Integrative Medicine Section in the Laboratory of Genetics at the National Institute on Aging. She served as Director of Adult Genetics at the Harvey Institute for Human Genetics in Baltimore before moving to Indianapolis in 2019. Dr. Francomano has published over 150 articles in the peer reviewed literature and has authored or edited four books.
