Expert Speaker: Dr. David Bauer
Topic: “Chiari Malformation: What should I know as a patient?”
David F. Bauer, MD, MPH is Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine / Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and University of Michigan Medical School. He completed internship and residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham, followed by fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at University of Washington / Seattle Children’s Hospital. He was previously director of pediatric neurosurgery at the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center until being recruited to Texas Children’s Hospital in 2020, where he now has a focused practice in Chiari / complex Chiari, complex pediatric spine, and craniofacial surgery. He is chair of the AANS/CNS pediatric section guidelines committee, and he is active in guidelines review and production for multiple organizations, including AES, AAN, AAP, and CNS. He is lead author of the AANS/CNS Guidelines for the Treatment of Chiari I Malformation.
