Jarod L. Roland, MD is the Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, the Director of the Pediatric Epilepsy Surgery and of the Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy Programs. Dr. Roland specializes in with an interest in treating patients with medically refractory epilepsy using a variety of neurosurgical techniques that aim to cure their seizures or to reduce their seizure burden when a cure is not feasible. Dr. Roland also treats a wide range of pediatric brain tumors, Chiari malformation, cerebrovascular malformations such as arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and cavernomas, Selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR), and the full gamut of hydrocephalus and congenital neurologic disorders.

His research focuses on how functional networks in the brain develop and reorganize in response to injury or intervention.  He studies these networks with a combination of functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and intracranial electrophysiology such as SEEG and ECoG incorporating paradigms where patients participate alongside their routine clinical care to avoid any burden and occasionally help them pass the time while in the hospital for their standard care.

Anna Corbitt grew up in the St. Louis Metro East. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in applied communication studies at Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville in 2012 and 2014. Anna taught communication classes at SIUE for four years and has been at Paraquad for over nine years. She is currently Advancement Manager, focused on fundraising through annual events and building relationships in the community. Anna’s passion is educating people about disability awareness and creating an inclusive environment for all individuals.

Dr. Jennifer Strahle is a pediatric neurosurgeon-scientist at Washington University in St. Louis and St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurological Surgery and leads the neurosurgical fetal myelomeningocele and pediatric cerebrovascular programs while also caring for a large number of children with tumors of the brain and spine and a wide variety of pediatric neurosurgical conditions. She has an NIH R01-funded basic science research lab investigating the role of iron and hemoglobin in the pathogenesis of neonatal intraventricular hemorrhage-induced hydrocephalus. Her clinical research focuses on the interaction between Chiari malformation, scoliosis, and syringomyelia. Dr. Strahle obtained her medical degree from the University in Minnesota in 2008 and completed her residency in neurological surgery at the University of Michigan. She completed fellowships in pediatric neurosurgery at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and complex pediatric spinal deformity at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, FL and has been on the faculty at Washington University since 2016. She is a member of the SRS AANS, CNS, ASPN, WINS, and AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery.
