Mindfulness Anxiety strategies

Dr. Chad Sylvester MD, PhD
A psychiatrist at WashU., with a PhD in neuroscience and MD training as a child and adolescent psychiatrist. His research focuses broadly on the development of functional brain networks in children with and without psychiatric disorders. He has led research that relates brain function (using functional magnetic resonance imaging, fMRI) to psychiatric symptoms or psychiatric risk in newborns to adults. Additional work involves testing novel computer-based cognitive training programs to retrain brain systems altered in pediatric anxiety disorders and reduce symptoms of anxiety.

Dr. Jarod Roland, MD
Neurosurgeon at WashU., Saint Louis Children’s Hospital. Who provides care for individuals with Chiari Malformations and is researching functional brain networks specific to individuals with Chiari Type I malformations.

Dr. Katie Bucklen, MD, FAAP
A retired pediatrician with a B.A from New York University and M.D. degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She served as faculty in the Department of Pediatrics at WashU caring for children facing the uncertainty of serious illness. Now, with 8 years of mindfulness practice and training she is a certified instructor for the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults, teaching students at Saint Louis University and offering individual and group mindfulness training at the Center for Mindfulness and CBT in St. Louis. Dr. Bucklen will be offering a 1-time group session to take place at this event for those in attendance.
