Obex Exploration & Duraplasty to Improve Syrinx Resolution Following Chiari Decompression
2019 Bobby Jones CSF Think Tank
SPRINGHILL SUITES DOWNTOWN - SAN DIEGO, CA - APRIL 13, 2019
The 2019 Think Tank research meeting brought together thought leaders in the field of Chiari and related disorders, featuring presentations of novel research in Chiari, syringomyelia and more.
Dr. Anthony Wang, now specializing in pediatric neurosurgery at
UCLA, describes the work he did in his previous fellowship at
Seattle Children's Hospital studying the outcomes of various surgical techniques performed in
Chiari surgery.
Specifically, Dr. Wang and his colleagues found that techniques like obex exploration and duraplasty seem to improve the likelihood of a syrinx (
syringomyelia) resolving after surgery in patients undergoing Chiari decompression surgery.
This presentation was given at the 2019 Bobby Jones CSF Think Tank Meeting in San Diego, CA. (2019)
