Surgical Principles & Avoiding Treatment Failure
2018 unite@thehill - Conference of Advocacy & Action
BETHESDA MARRIOTT - BETHESDA, MD/WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 24-25, 2018
Dr. John Oró describes the different treatment methods for
Chiari malformation and why those treatments do not work in every patient. Specifically, he points out common reasons for Chiari decompression/surgical failure. Very often, these reasons may mean that the patient does not have a "strict" Chiari, and may, instead, have an underlying issue such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension (sometimes called IIH, or psuedotumor cerebri), a CSF leak, etc.
This lecture was given at the 2018 CSF unite@thehill advocacy and action weekend. (2018)
