Pediatric Perspectives on Chronic Pain
3rd Annual CSF Disorders Symposium: Connective Tissue Syndromes and Manifestations of CSF Disorders in the Brain and Spine
BROWN UNIVERSITY - PROVIDENCE, RI - JUNE 16, 2018
Dr. Angela Anderson gives an amazing presentation on chronic pain, describing the various cellular pathways that cause different types of pain and explains the important differences between all of them.
This is an excellent "101" lecture for parents of patients (and adult patients, too!) who want to better understand how and why pain is caused in the human body.
Dr. Anderson also goes into great detail how these pathways work in disorders of connective tissue (like
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome) and related disorders like
Chiari,
syringomyelia, mast cell activation disorder and more. She also describes why opioids do not always work in patients with these connective tissue disorders and chronic pain.
