As we learn more about Chiari, experts in the field are beginning to agree that treatment for this condition is a highly individualized process that is heavily dependent of the various diagnoses each patient has. In this fantastic lecture, Dr. Jeffrey Greenfield describes the method used in his clinic to determine what "kind" of Chiari malformation each individual patient is presenting with, to maximize the likelihood of doing better following medical or surgical treatment.

For example, a patient with Chiari and craniocervical instability or Ehlers-Danlos syndrome may need a different type of treatment than a patient with Chiari, alone.
