Consider Chiari

ROYAL SOCIETY OF MEDICINE - LONDON, UK - SEPTEMBER 13, 2019
A cry for "Help!" at the London Roundtable, Dr. Hakim addresses the challenges, from a physician's perspective, when presented with patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome who are diagnosed with Craniocervical Instability. Are there different criteria that define CCI specific to the hyper mobile population? Hakim explains his difficulties from pinning down causality, the potential overlap of symptoms, interpreting imaging, as well as the frustration of discrepancy of treatment among physicians, both surgical and non-surgical.

With no direct literature addressing both of these issues simultaneously and a lack of evidence for the best treatment, patients can receive opposing prescriptions for treatment. Listen to Dr. Hakim's suggestion for guidance for all physicians addressing these complex issues.

This lecture was presented at the 2019 London Roundtable, provided in partnership with the Ehlers-Danlos Society, discussing issues including dysautonomia, connective tissue disorders, Chiari malformation and related syndromes. (2019)
