August 2018 Update: Posterior Fossa Decompression Trial for Chiari & Syringomyelia
ST. LOUIS CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL - ST. LOUIS, MO
AUGUST 18, 2018
Dr. David Limbrick gives a brief update on the progress of the
$2.8 million randomized control trial studying the common surgeries performed to treat
Chiari malformation and
syringomyelia. The study should determine which, if either, version of this surgery is preferred: posterior fossa decompression with duraplasty (dura mater is opened during surgery) or without duraplasty (dura mater remains closed during surgery).
Recruitment for the study is now closed, and the data analysis will begin soon! Check back for future updates on this research study. Curious about the study, in general? Feel free to contact us to learn more about it! (2018)
