THE PFD TRIAL FOR CHILDREN WITH CHIARI MALFORMATION & SYRINGOMYELIA
Think Tank 2016
GRAND HYATT CHICAGO - CHICAGO, ILLINOIS - April 30, 2016
Dr. David Limbrick discusses his ongoing randomized control trial that will be able to shed some light on
Chiari decompression surgery best practices.
Currently, many neurosurgeons are not sure if it is better to open the dura (duraplasty) or leave it closed when doing a posterior fossa decompression. This
RCT will help more surgeons determine whether or not they should do a duraplasty on a pediatric patient with Chiari and
syringomyelia. This lecture was given at the 2016 CSF Think Tank meeting in Chicago, IL. (2016)
