Dr. Laila M. Mohammad is a pediatric neurosurgeon at Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas, Texas, and is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of Pediatric Neurological Surgery. She is also on faculty at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) at UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Mohammad earned her undergraduate and medical degrees from Vanderbilt University. She completed her neurosurgery residency and enfolded neurocritical care fellowship at the University of New Mexico, followed by a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.

Dr. Mohammad has clinical and research interests in Chiari I malformation, hydrocephalus, spina bifida, and transition of care. She is involved in the multi-institutional Chiari Surgical Success Scale (CSSS) study and is developing transition of care educational resources for patients with non-operative Chiari malformations as they transition from pediatric to adult care.

She is actively involved in organized neurosurgery at the national level and is an active member of the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies (CSNS), American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and the AANS/CNS Section on Pediatric Neurological Surgery. She also provides international neurosurgical consultation and educational support to underserved communities.

Dr. Mohammad is passionate about mentorship, medical education, and improving communication with patients and families. She is the founder of KidsBrainDoc.com, an educational resource designed to help families better understand pediatric neurosurgical diagnoses, surgery, hospitalization, and recovery.
