Mary received her Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from St. John’s University in Queens, New York in 2013. She resides in New York near her family, including her mother, Executive Director of Bobby Jones CSF, Dorothy Poppe, and her brother George who was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation and syringomyelia in 1991.
Mary also teaches dance and acrobatics classes and choreographs gymnastic routines. A competitive gymnast for 17 years, Mary participated as a Level 10 in the 2011 Junior Olympic National Championships. She also dances recreationally in the New York City area and has a passion for health, fitness and food.
She has been volunteering for the Bobby Jones Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation since its incorporation in 2007. She also completed an event-focused internship, specifically for the first Bobby Jones Classic at East Lake, in 2012 before becoming a full-time employee in 2018.
