Mary received her Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from St. John’s University in Queens, New York in 2013. She resides in New York near her family, including her mother, Executive Director of CSF, Dorothy Poppe, and her brother George who was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation and syringomyelia in 1991.
She has been volunteering for the Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation since its inception in 2007, she also completed an events-focused Internship with CSF in 2012. After graduating Mary took a Human Resources Coordinator position at a private media agency where she spent 4+ years in the development space onboarding employees and introducing them to the various learning opportunities available, as well as addressing employees’ various development needs throughout their career. From this position, Mary discovered her interest in helping those in need, which, partnered with her familial connection, lead to her current role with Bobby Jones CSF.
Mary also teaches Hip Hop, Acrobatics, and choreographs gymnastic floor exercise and balance beam routines. A competitive gymnast for 17 years, Mary participated as a Level 10 in the 2011 Junior Olympic National Championships, she still practices gymnastics in her free-time. She also dances recreationally in the New York City area and dabbles in other areas of fitness. Mary also enjoys anything and everything that involves food, mainly, the consumption of it.
